What is the most mysterious and effective thing that you can think of? Magic should be your answer. Don’t scoff at the idea that magic is only for the movies or to make a really good television show. Magic is real, it is as real as you and I are. Magic is also effective, it is powerful that is why it has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. Magic is a practical art that is practiced through the art of spellcasting.

There are spells that have been around for centuries. They have lasted that long because they work, because they are real. This isn’t to say that every spell that has worked for years will work for you, just as a spell that works for you may not work for someone else. Think of it along the lines of when you have a headache… aspirin may be strong enough to help your mom, but it doesn’t even touch the pain that is going on in your head at the moment. It simply isn’t the right tool for you to use at this time. That is what spells are, tools… and every tool has a time and place that it works for. You wouldn’t use a hammer to tighten a screw would you?

While anyone is capable of casting a spell, there is some training that is required to learn to cast a spell the correct way. You wouldn’t go out and try to run a marathon without any training because you would hurt yourself, the same is true for trying to work a spell with out training. There are schools that can “attend,” there are some eCourses, and there are many books that can teach you how perform spells. I want you to understand one thing, everyone comes at witchcraft and spellcastng from their own standpoint, so when you are being taught by someone else you need to be self aware enough to know if it feels right to you are not. If it doesn’t feel right then don’t do it.

To use spells you have to understand that everything, you, me, the tree, a book, the computer, the rock, etc emit energy. This energy is has different forces and clarity to it, and this power or force is universal, it is described in every culture and every culture has their own specific word for it. It is this energy that you are going to use to cast a spell.

There are witchcraft spells for everything that you can imagine. If you can’t find a spell that meets your needs exactly then the best thing you can do is write your own. You may want to consider writing your own spell anyway. The personal investment that you will have in creating that spell gives is more energy, more power. You need to believe in the spell that you are working also. Witchcraft spells are not something that you can do half-assed and expect to get the result that you are after.

There a certain tools that you will want to have to help work your spells. Items such as candles, incense, anthames, paper, ink, yarn, crystals or other precious stones. When you are using candles and incense you need to keep in mind that colors and scents carry with them different purposes and energies, so you will want to spend a little time making sure that the tools you are using do not sabotage the spell. Spells can be as simple as you want them to be. Here is a simple spell, that doesn’t require any tools and is used to protect you from negative influences:
